To you, O God, we lift up our hands in worship…we lower our shoulders in surrender…

We lower our gaze in humility.
We come before you, in grateful thanksgiving.

Knowing that our time together has already been a purposeful experience.

Knowing that the soil on which we stand is HOLY not because it is a sanctuary…

Not because it is any more special than any other

but rather because we are in YOUR presence.
Creator God,

we thank you for the lessons of yesterday that help shape the newness of today.

Father…

Mother…

Creator…

Nurturer…

Aaaaahh.

In all YOUR many names, help us and guide us…
BLESSED, we need a revolution

a revolution of your annointing GOD we ask that you fall upon each of us FROM the ground up not just from the tips of her heads into our hearts

BUT rather through our entire being
As that song…

1 Samuel 17: 34-37 (ASV)

“And David said unto Saul, Thy servant was keeping his father’s sheep; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. And David said, Jehovah that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine…

What’s in YOUR Closet?

What’s in YOUR Closet?”

Have you ever seen that commercial on TV or YouTube that asks “What’s in Your Wallet?” The commercials started with a bunch of larger than life Vikings that were trying to go on vacation and the only real thing holding them back was the answer to the question, what’s in your wallet? — and the answer, for them, was Capital One Credit Card!!

That has had me thinking about today’s scripture reading. Today we heard Ephesians 6: 11-17 read in both English and Spanish: Helmet of Salvation, Sword of Word, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shield of Faith, Belt of Truth, and Sandals of Peace! And like a good sarcastic fashion forward woman I wondered why these people needed to be reminded to put some close on… Oh and why so many accessories.

And then…

“Freedom Comes After Struggle 2: Looking for True Freedom!”
Last week we began a two-part sermon series titled Freedom Comes After Struggle. It might have appeared as though much was left unsaid. And you are right. Actually the sermon in its entirety was a build up to today’s sermon.

Last week you may have heard me speak of the unjust treatment of those people who have been made to feel othered by the world, by this country, by religion simply by virtue of the ways in which they are different.
Last week I named out loud the oppressive injustice of living in this world while being Black or Brown. I named…
