Acts 2:7 MSG: They couldn’t for the life of them figure out what was going on, and kept saying, “Aren’t these all Galileans?
We have been talking about surprising gifts in strange places. In order to celebrate these gifts, our minds and our hearts must be open to receive all that God has for us. We cannot close our eyes and only accept our past and not the newness of spiritual unity!
Pope Francisco recently indicated that the flow of the Holy Spirit caused “chaos” and produced “diversity”. This is interesting because when we have diversity we believe that all is different. But Pope Francisco went further and said “only the Holy Spirit can bring about diversity […] and unity at the same time. On the other hand, some of us play with diversity and become exclusivists provoking division and when attempting to build unity we impose uniformity.”
It is my hope that we embrace the diversity of the Holy Spirit. The diversity that moves us in love, in communion, in covenant one with another knowing that these gifts bring the unity for the perfection of the work of God’s Kingdom on earth.
What a surprising gift – Diversity for Unity!
Hechos 2:7 NTV: “Estaban totalmente asombrados. «¿Cómo puede ser? —exclamaban—. Todas estas personas son de Galilea..”
Hemos estado hablando de regalos sorprendentes en lugares extraños. Para poder celebrar estos regalos, nuestras mente y nuestro corazón tienen que estar abiertos a recibir todo lo que Dios tiene para cada uno(a) de nosotros(as). No podemos cerrar nuestros ojos y solo aceptar las cosas de antaño y dejar ir aquellas que son nuevas y crean unidad espiritual.
El Papa Francisco recientemente indicó que el fluir del Espiritu Santo causó un “revolu” porque produjo “diversidad”. Esto es interesante porque cuando hay diversidad se cree que todo va a ser diferente, que todo va a irse cuesta abajo. Pero el Papa Francisco fue más allá y dijo que “solo el Espiritu Santo puede suscitar la diversidad…, al mismo tiempo, realizar la unidad. En cambio, cuando somos nosotros(as) los(as) que pretendemos la diversidad y nos encerramos en nuestros(as) particularismos, en nuestros exclusivismos, provocamos la división; y cuando somos nosotros(as) los(as) que queremos construir la unidad con nuestros planes humanos, terminamos por imponer la uniformidad”
Es mi esperanza que nos dejemos arropar por la diversidad creada por el Espiritu Santo, esa diversidad que nos impulsa a movernos en amor, en comunión, en pacto el uno con el otro y la una con la otra. Sabiendo que estos dones otorgados a nosotros y nosotras son para la unidad y la perfección de la obra y el Reino de Dios sobre la tierra.
Que regalo tan sorprendente – Diversidad para Unidad!
