TERTULIA 2013: AUTHENTICITY – AUTENTICIDAD

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” from 1 Peter 2:9
There was a time in my life I did not believe I was a woman of virtue, chosen to be a leader, or have the ability to do great things. I was living in darkness. My late teenage years were tarnished by an abusive relationship. My life was spiraling out of control into an abyss of despair and loneliness which controlled me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I was unable to visualize a path to a better tomorrow until God used a woman to call me out of the darkness and into God’s marvelous light.
This woman met with me every night for several weeks repeating words of encouragement to me. She proclaimed I was God’s child, I was chosen, and I was worthy. Initially her words had no effect on my psyche, but eventually I heard God’s voice. I gained strength and a belief that I had the courage to proclaim the virtue God intended for me.
Several years later, I was given the opportunity of sharing my story with others. To be authentic for the sake of others is a difficult task, but I decided to help other young women in abusive relationships by retelling my story. I allowed God to use me as a vessel and the authenticity of my message helped many of these young women discover their strength and God’s intended virtue for their lives.

Prayer: Loving God, there are many who believe they are not worthy of greatness. Years of abuse and abandonment have given way to the loss of authenticity; loss of virtue. We ask that you continue to use those who have reclaimed their virtue and authenticity through your remarkable healing power. Amazing Lord, bless us with the ability to pay it forward with the goal of increasing your kingdom. In your name we pray, Amen!

Autenticidad

“Pero vosotros sois linaje escogido, real sacerdocio, nación santa, pueblo adquirido, para que anunciéis las virtudes de aquel que os llamó de las tinieblas a su luz admirable.” De 1 Pedro 2:9
Hubo un tiempo en mi vida yo no creía ser una mujer de virtud, elegida para ser una líder, o tener la capacidad de hacer grandes cosas. Yo estaba viviendo en la oscuridad. Mis años de adolescencia fueron estropeadas por una relación abusiva. Mi vida estaba fuera de control en el abismo de la desesperación y la soledad que me controlaba física, mental y emocionalmente. No podía visualizar un camino hacia un futuro mejor, hasta que Dios utilizó a una mujer para extraerme de la oscuridad y llevarme a la maravillosa luz de Dios.
Esa mujer se reunió conmigo y cada noche durante varias semanas repitió palabras de aliento para mí. Ella proclamó que yo era hija de Dios, que fui elegida, y que yo era digna. Al principio sus palabras no tuvieron efecto, pero con el tiempo pude oír la voz de Dios. Gané fuerzas y la convicción de que tenía la valentía para proclamar la virtud que Dios escogió para mí
Varios años después, se me dio la oportunidad de compartir mi historia con otras personas. Ser auténtico por el bien de los demás es una tarea difícil, pero decidí contar mi historia para ayudar a otras mujeres jóvenes en relaciones abusivas. Dejé que Dios me usara como vasija y la autenticidad de mi mensaje ayudó a muchas de estas mujeres jóvenes a descubrir sus fuerzas y la virtud que Dios quería para sus vidas.

Oración: Dios amoroso, son muchos los que creen que no son dignos de la grandeza. Los años de abuso y abandono han dado paso a la pérdida de autenticidad, la pérdida de la virtud. Te pedimos que utilices a los que han reclamado su virtud y autenticidad a través de Tu increíble poder sanador. Señor, bendícenos con la capacidad de restablecer estas vidas con el objetivo de aumentar Tu reino. En su nombre oramos, ¡Amén!
