“And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful. And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more” from Luke 12: 42-48 (Matthew 24: 45-51)
Peter Parker was bitten by a radio-active spider, his life changed. From being a studious young man who avoided trouble, he changed to a person who welcomed the fight. His Uncle Ben, reminded him that “with great power comes great responsibility!” That message changed his life…he realized his new super powers were to be used responsibly. He had a responsibility to use them for good.
But there is something missing in that equation. Peter Parker did not have a mentor, or a leader to teach him to use his gifts wisely. Uncle Ben was the only one to recognize the need to be a responsible steward of that gift, but he died. The radio-active spider never spoke or educated him, so poor Peter Parker had no one to call him out, no one to hold him accountable. We don’t have that issue. In Luke 12:48b, the Lord says, that for “every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required. Accountability!
Our gifts come from a loving God that has our names and stories tattooed in the palm of his/her hand. Those gifts that God gave us, they are meant to be share, and God will hold us accountable for them. Sometimes we forget that those little things we have going for ourselves, those hidden talents are gifts from God. We choose how and when to use them, but they were gifted to us for a reason.
Imagine what our church, our UCC, would look like if rather than hiding those talents at home in our local church, or in our immediate community we dared to share them with the wider church? Just imagine the diversity of worship that could exist if when invited to contribute a dish to the next church potluck, we were to bring some rice and beans. Those gifts that we were gifted, whatever they might be, are meant to be used, they will help others see who we are, what wonderful things our God can accomplish through us!

I invite you to take stock of your gifts and find new ways to use them for the betterment of God’s kingdom. Your God given gift(s) are to be shared. Remember, that you are responsible for administering that gift.

Prayer: God, thank you for the gifts you gave us, thank you for giving us mentors to guide us. Most of all thank you for the gift of accountability. I know that this gift, that is growing within me, is yours and for your kingdom. I ask you continue to give me the necessary tools to use this resource wisely. Amen.

Con gran poder, viene una gran responsabilidad y rendición de
cuentas!

“ El Señor le respondió: «¿Quién es el mayordomo fiel y prudente, al cual su señor deja a cargo de los de su casa para que los alimente a su debido tiempo? Dichoso el siervo al que, cuando su señor venga, lo encuentre haciendo así. De cierto les digo que lo pondrá a cargo de todos sus
bienes. Pero si aquel siervo cree que su señor va a tardar, y comienza a golpear a los criados y a las criadas, y a comer y beber y embriagarse, el señor de aquel siervo vendrá cuando éste menos lo espere, y a una hora que no sabe, y lo castigará duramente, y lo echará con los incrédulos. El siervo que, a pesar de conocer la voluntad de su señor, no se prepara para cumplirla, se hace acreedor de muchos azotes. Pero el que se hace acreedor a recibir azotes sin conocer la voluntad de su señor, será azotado poco. Porque al que se le da mucho, también se le exigirá mucho; y al que se le confía mucho, se le pedirá más todavía.” De Lucas 12: 42-48 (Mateo 24 : 45-51 )
Peter Parker fue mordido por una araña radioactiva, su vida cambió. De ser un joven estudioso que evitó problemas, cambió a una persona que dio la bienvenida a la lucha. Su tío Ben, le recordó que “con gran poder viene una gran responsabilidad!” Ese mensaje cambió su vida… se dio cuenta que sus nuevos súper poderes deberían ser utilizados de manera responsable. Tenía la responsabilidad de usarlos para el bien.
Pero hay algo que falta en la ecuación. Peter Parker no tuvo un mentor, o un líder que le enseñara a usar sus dones sabiamente. Tío Ben fue el único en reconocer la necesidad de ser un administrador responsable de ese don, pero murió. La araña radioactiva nunca habló o lo educó, el pobre Peter Parker no tuvo a nadie quien lo llamara a cuentas, nadie que lo hiciera responsable . Nosotros no tenemos ese problema. En Lucas 12:48 b, dice el Señor, que por “cada uno a quien mucho se le da, mucho se les exigirá. Rendición de cuentas!
Nuestros dones vienen de un Dios amoroso que tiene nuestros nombres e historias tatuados en la palma de Su mano. Esos regalos que Dios nos dio, están destinados a ser compartidos, y Dios nos pedirá a cuenta por ellos. A veces nos olvidamos que esas pequeñas cosas que poseemos, esos talentos ocultos son dones de Dios. Elegimos cómo y cuándo usarlos, pero estaban dotados a nosotros por alguna razón.
¿Imagínese como seria nuestra iglesia, nuestra UCC, si en lugar de esconder esos talentos en nuestra iglesia local, o en nuestra comunidad inmediata nos atreviéramos a compartir con toda la Iglesia? Imagínense la diversidad de adoración que existiría si al ser invitados o invitadas a contribuir con un plato a la siguiente reunión social en la iglesia, lleváramos arroz con gandules. ¡Esos regalos con los cuales hemos sido dotados, sean lo que sean, tienen el propósito de ser usados, y ayudaría a que

otros vieran quien somos, y las cosas maravillosas que nuestro Dios puede lograr a través de nosotros y nosotras!
Los invito a hacer un balance de sus dones y encuentren nuevas formas de usarlos para el bien del Reino de Dios. Tus dones deben ser compartidos. Recuerde que usted es responsable de la administración de ese regalo/don.

Oración: Dios, gracias por los dones que nos distes, gracias por darnos mentores para guiarnos. Sobre todo, gracias por el don de la rendición de cuentas. Sé que este regalo, que está creciendo dentro de mí, es tuyo y de tu reino. Te pido que continúes dándome las herramientas necesarias para utilizar este recurso de manera inteligente. Amén
