Luke 22:54-55
“So they arrested Jesus and led him away to the chief priest’s house. Peter followed at a [safe] distance. Some men had lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard. As they sat together, Peter sat among them.”
I can hear many talking and preaching about Peter’s denial of Jesus, yet this passage talk about Peter following [at a distance] the one that he had promise “I will not deny you” (Mark: 14:29, 31). He followed Jesus to the end, even at the cost of his own life. Did you see anybody else following? I do not know you, but I will have done the same – follow at a distance -, fearful of my life, fearful of what will happen if they capture me too, Oh my brothers and sisters, not a cowardly fear, but a courageous fear… “I will be here [at a distance] until the end”. Have you hear about his restoration, his transformation?
“Lord, even if I have to crawl in fear, I will follow you”
“Arrestaron a Jesús y lo llevaron a casa del sumo sacerdote. Pedro los siguió a cierta distancia. Encendieron un fuego en medio del patio y se sentaron alrededor. Pedro se sentó con ellos.”
Puedo escuchar a much@s hablando y predicando acerca de la negación de Pedro, sin embargo, estos versos hablan de como Pedro siguió a Jesus [en la distancia]. Si, Pedro, el que habia prometido “Yo no te negaré” (Marcos: 14:29, 31), siguió a Jesús hasta el final, incluso a costa de su propia vida. ¿Viste a alguien mas seguirle? Yo no se de ti, pero yo hubiese hecho lo mismo – seguirlo en distancia -, temerosa por mi vida, con miedo de lo que pasaria si me capturan a mi también, Oh mis hermanos y hermanas, no un miedo de cobardia, sino un miedo de valentía … “Voy a estar aquí [en distancia] hasta el final”. ¿Has escuchado hablar de su restauración, su transformación?
“Señor, incluso si tengo que arrastrarme en mi miedo, te seguiré”
