He found them sleeping – Los encontró durmiendo

Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”  Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.  And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him. Then He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come. 

Have you ever been so tired that your eyes shot down no matter how much you tried to stay awake?  If you are like any other human being, maybe you have fallen asleep when you are supposed to be praying, or helping someone in need.  Will this result into ‘fallen into temptation”?  Were you sleeping and resting to have energy for what will come after?  Was that what happened here?  It is my hope that I sleep and rest, but wake up ready for the battle when the time comes. 

 Lord, help me to maintain myself awake in my spirit to follow your lead.

Entonces Jesús vino y los halló durmiendo, y dijo a Pedro: “Simón, ¿duermes? ¿No pudiste velar ni por una hora? Velen y oren para que no entren en tentación; el espíritu está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil.”  El se fue otra vez y oró, diciendo las mismas palabras. Y vino Jesús de nuevo y los halló durmiendo, porque sus ojos estaban muy cargados de sueño; y no sabían qué responder.  Vino por tercera vez, y les dijo: “¿Todavía están durmiendo y descansando? Basta ya; ha llegado la hora”

¿Alguna vez has estado tan cansad@ que tus ojos abatidos, se cierran no importa lo mucho que tratas de mantenerte despiert@? Si eres como cualquier otro ser humano, tal vez te has quedado dormid@ cuando se supone que estes orando, o ayudando a alguien en necesidad. ¿Resultará esto en haber ‘caído en tentación “? O era que estabas durmiendo y descansando para tener energía para lo que vendria después? Sera eso lo que sucedio aquí? Es mi esperanza que yo duerma y descanse, pero que despierte list@ para la batalla cuando llegue el momento.

Señor, ayudame a mantenerme despierta en mi espiritu para seguir tu dirección.
